Seattle Foundation Extends GiveBIG for Additional 24 Hours

SEATTLE, May 4, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Seattle Foundation announced it is extending GiveBIG (GiveBIG.seattlefoundation.org) an additional 24 hours through midnight tonight, in response to a vendor technology problem yesterday which affected nearly 40 giving day events here and across the country.

"We firmly believe our community's generosity can overcome yesterday's technology challenge. Our energies are fully focused on helping our more than 1,500 participating nonprofits reach their fundraising goals," said Seattle Foundation President & CEO Tony Mestres. "Our message to the community is keep giving big, and let's show our nonprofits what they mean to our community."

Seattle Foundation's goal for GiveBIG is $20 million. As of 8 a.m. this morning, online giving totaled nearly $11.6 million. An additional $1.5 million in nonprofit matching funds reached plus a $1 million Seattle Foundation stretch pool brings the total giving to approximately $14 million. GiveBIG is an annual online event which invites the community to come together and give generously to more than 1,500 participating nonprofit organizations via GiveBIG.seattlefoundation.org.
